John W. Kephart, MSPH

I am an epidemiologist and medical-legal consultant with more than a decade of experience working on Workers' Compensation, Personal Injury, and toxic exposure cases. I also have expertise as an Infection Preventionist in both acute care and long-term care settings. I have expertise in medical and occupational record reviews, gap analysis, literature research and review, as well as drafting patient narratives and opinion papers. I have a strong understanding of the review process and the ability to identify and analyze gaps in care. I'm also an experienced researcher and writer, with a knack for synthesizing complex information into clear and concise reports.

Since 2004, I've consulted with a Board-Certified Neurologist and Occupational Medicine specialist, honing my skills in medical record reviews for patients with complex medical conditions, as well as conducting patient interviews and histories. I've worked extensively on Qualified Medical Examinations, Independent Medical Examinations, Personal Injury Liens, and Expert Peer Reviews. For years, I've been the primary lead in drafting medical narratives and opinion papers and have provided editing services for journal submissions. I also conduct literature research and reviews to stay up to date on the latest medical evidence, and my writing skills enable me to clearly and concisely explain complex medical concepts to medical professionals, attorneys, and lay audiences.

I'm also an Environmental Health Officer in the U.S. Navy Reserves with over a decade of service and currently hold the rank of Lieutenant Commander. I've deployed three times, with two tours in Africa and one tour in Germany. During both deployments to Africa, I was the Preventive Medicine Department Head with the responsibility of overseeing the health and welfare of more than 4,000 service members and civilian contractors across 10 African countries. In Germany, I was the Force Health Protection Officer in support of the Ukrainian mission.

I am a highly skilled and experienced medical-legal consultant with expert knowledge of the records review process, research, writing, and analysis.
